Image Areas | Anchor Gravity
What is Anchor Gravity?
Anchor Gravity is an Image Area setting that allows creators to define a specific default load position for uploaded images, in relation to the Image Area boundary. The Anchor Gravity dropdown menu provides the following preset options - Centre (set by default), East, North, North East, North West, South, South East, South West and West.
Please note, historically images have always been centered to the Image Area only - these new controls provide much greater control for defining a specific user experience.
Anchor Gravity is compatible with all Image Area Fit Modes but offers best results with *Relative and Contain options. Different Fit Modes will offer different results based on the scaling rules being applied.
The image below serves as a visual representation of each anchor point location on a standard image area.
The image above shows the following - NE (North East), N (North), NW (North West), E (East), C (Centre), W (West), SE (South East), S (South) and SW (South West).
How to set Anchor Gravity
To set Anchor Gravity against your Image Area, you simply need to head to the Functionality section of your product and under the Images tab and open the edit settings as shown below.
Once the menu is displaying like the above simply open the Behaviour menu and within this you will see the Anchor Gravity dropdown.
Within this dropdown users can choose between the mentioned options and finally click save.
Now the gravity has been set an image will load within this gravity point by default, for example the screenshot below shows an image set with a North East anchor point using Relative as the Fit Mode.
