Product Assets | Product Image Design Tool & Mock-up Generator

What is the Product Image Design Tool?

The Product Image Design Tool is a simple interactive designer used to create;

  1. Custom product images (main product image/thumbnail)
  2. Image 'Mockups' (supplementary ecommerce images to be used when publishing products online).
Note: Blank/Virtual Products are loaded into the design tool based on how they are configured within the Catalog. Image Areas / Text Areas must first be configured to provide image or text based functionality.

Use Case

The Kornit X Platform automatically generates a Product Image asset whenever a new Blank/Virtual Product is created. In some scenarios, more dynamic/engaging Product Images may be desired. The Product Image Design Tool allows platform users to replace the default image by interactively designing their own, without needing to use a dedicated artwork package.

Note: If you do already have professional / lifestyle product shots, you can upload these against the Product Image slot directly, rather than using the Design Tool.

How to Create a new Product Image

1. Access your Product in Product Manager, and go to General > Assets > Product Image and click the Design button.

2. The Product Image Designer will now load your product. Design your Product Image using the available core options / functionality, and then click Save Image:

3. Your Product Image is instantly replaced!

Top Tip: When loading Products that have a transparent preview Aspect, you can upload a product background image. This will sit behind the Product preview, allowing you to get creative and achieve some great visual results. Uploaded background images should be square, and either JPEG or PNG format

How to Generate new Mockups

Note: Mock-ups can only be generated within the Product Image Design Tool if the loaded Product has been configured to include 'Mock Up Aspects'

1. Access your Product in Product Manager, and go to General > Assets > Product Image and click the Design button.

2. The Product Image Designer will now load your product. Design your Product Image using the available core options / functionality, and then click Generate Mock-ups:

3. The 'Select Mock-ups' window will appear, previewing thumbnails for each associated Mock-up Aspect. Use the tile based selection to select which mock-ups you wish to Save as eCommerce Images.
Note: The checkbox allows for a generated mock-up image to be automatically saved as the new main Product Image / thumbnail asset.

4. Navigate to E-Commerce > Images to view the saved mock-ups
